The Center For Urban Economic Justice

“The Center for Urban Economic Justice exists to address America’s racialized wealth gap. With a fundamental belief that God is concerned about poverty and that scarcity is manufactured, we aim to help economically disenfranchised people and communities develop self-sustaining economies. Our efforts are grounded in education, strategic divestment/investment, cooperative economics, business incubation, and legislative engagement. The RISE! Program education experience centering the needs of African American and LatinX students and communities. This free 16-week entrepreneurship training program teaches high school students across Middle Tennessee how to start their very own businesses. Through RISE!, these entrepreneurs will go from brainstorming business idea(s) to offering real products and services to paying customers. We aim to inspire future African American and LatinX business leaders who will create a more just economy for all.”
