Red Cloud was a leader of the Oglala Lakota from 1865 to 1909. He was one of the most capable Native American opponents whom the United States Army faced in the western territories. After the war, Red Cloud became an advocate for peace, traveling to Washington D.C. to meet with political leaders and speak to white audiences. This painting is apart of our “Warriors & Poets” Wall here at the CCJ.
